‘Scandinavian Disco’… It certainly isn’t a genre you hear of every day, but some of the most interesting and unique disco and house music of our time is being produced in that intriguing land. At the forefront of this movement is the Norwegian musician Todd Terje. Proclaimed as the ‘king of the summer jams’ his music is uplifting, beautifully textured and most importantly highly dance-able. His 2012 track Inspector Norse was for me one of the best tracks of the year. It was highly original, distinctive and went down a treat at any party.
Ahead of the release of his debut album in March (mark that date) Todd Terje has released a new 12″ via Olsen Records. Spiral is everything you would expect from this Norwegian. Synth heavy, summer sounding, maximalist, 80s inspired disco. These tunes make everyone feel happy and everyone want to dance. Have a listen to Spiral above and the equally special trance inspired Q on his soundcloud.
